Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna of Russia was the youngest daughter of Tsar Nicholas II and Tsarina Alexandra Fyodorovna who met her demise at the hands of the Bolshevik secret police in 1918. She’s got three sisters but she’s the most famous probably because of rumors of her escape which led to many women coming forward and claiming to be her. The Tsardom of Russia no longer exists, but that didn’t stop Vogue Japan to be inspired by the Grand Duchess and the opulence of their court in this editorial titled “The Anastasia of Winter”. The editorial stars American model Lindsey Wixson who looks like a Russian princess while strolling the grounds of her palace in winter. L’Uomo Vogue editor Giovanna Battaglia did the styling with selected pieces from Dolce & Gabbana, Emporio Armani, Meadham Kirchhoff and many others while Emma Summerton captured the images for Vogue Japan’s December 2013 issue.
